1. Overview of Salmon

3. Import volume hits a new high, and domestic salmon gradually enters the market
The supply of salmon has increased significantly. According to data, in 2023, China's imports of chilled salmon (Atlantic salmon) will reach 80,126 tons, breaking the 80,000-ton mark for the first time in history! However, the import volume of frozen salmon is 12,794 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.7%. Overall, China's total salmon imports in 2023 will reach 92,920 tons, a year-on-year increase of 46.3%, exceeding the historical record of 89,184 tons in 2019, but has not yet broken the 100,000-ton mark!
At the same time, the domestic salmon industry is also developing rapidly, reaching 45,000 tons in 2023. my country's farmed salmon species are mainly rainbow trout, which are farmed in freshwater and distributed in Xinjiang, Zhejiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and other places. Among them, Xinjiang's salmon are mainly rainbow trout. Some aquaculture and other fish farming companies have increased and joined salmon farming.
4. China's salmon market price
While the import volume increases and domestic salmon gradually enters the market, its market price is also more affordable. According to the price information released by the "Salmon Wholesale Market", in early July 2024, the price of 7-8 kg salmon in the Beijing wholesale market was 90 yuan/kg, and the price of salmon of the same specification in February was 133 yuan/kg; the price trend of the Hema Fresh APP showed that the price of Norwegian salmon slices at 29.9 yuan per box was the lowest price in the past 30 days. The "regular selling price" of the product was 35.9 yuan, a decrease of 16%, and the converted decrease was 60 yuan/kg; however, some industry insiders believe that the downward trend in salmon prices will not continue.
